A short history of Doive Designs

Established in 2005, Doive Designs is run by University of Glamorgan graduate, David Burton. Dave studied Internet Computing, which he graduated in the Summer of 2005 with a 2:1. The course helped to focus his web development and design skills which had been used previously for personal projects including the running of sites for the Glamorgan Christian Union and Radyr Baptist Church.

Following his graduation, Dave was approached by a number of friends who required his services for their businesses, and so the business began.

Over the years the business has grown and developed into the thriving young business it is today, offering solutions to a wide range of clients with a wide range of needs.

Business Goals

The primary aim of the business is to provide quality website solutions to small businesses and charities, including churches.

The vast majority of church websites are of poor quality and are not updated regularly. The result of which is that the site may as well not exist. Church sites are used increasingly by people moving into a new area, allowing them to find out what the church is about. Most churches have someone who knows a little about web design and cannot afford the going rates.

Small businesses are faced with a similar problem. Customers expect businesses to have a web presence and not having one will mean you are invisible to a growing number of people. But with web design companies charging an arm and a leg for a simple site, the temptation is to put it off.

Charities, by their very definition, exist for the benefit of others. They don't want to be wasting money on expensive websites, but they cannot afford not to either. With so many good causes out there and a finite amount of good will, a badly designed website may be the difference between solvency and insolvency.

Enter Doive Designs: a business that believes that the going rates are too high and that professional website design should be available for everybody. We exist to provide solutions for those on a budget, without compromising on quality.

What does 'Doive' stand for?

Simple. It's Dave Burton's nickname. In the UK, the name David is very common and it can become quite confusing for people. So as a way of making Dave Burton easily destinguishable from the other Daves, his friends dubbed him Doive and the name has stuck ever since.

In the same way, Doive Designs aims to stand out from other web design and development companies through being honest, reliable and affordable.
