Faqs: How much does a website cost?

How long is a piece of string? The price of a website will depend on whether your site is simple 'static HTML' website or whether it uses a content management system. We deal with two kinds of site: Static sites and Content managed sites.

Static HTML websites
Static HTML websites start from as little as £499 which includes:
- A year's free web hosting & standard email.
- Graphic design.
- Website construction to today's web and accessibility standards.
- Mobile and Tablet Friendly
- Simple image rollover effects.
- Simple animation effects including drop down menus.
- An email contact form.
- Google Analytics setup.
- Submission of sitemap(s) to Google Webmaster Tools.
Extra features can include: reactive mobile/tablet version, advanced animations, moving banners, carousels, javascript calculators, photo galleries, Facebook pages or MySpace / Blogger customisation. Extras typically cost between £100 - £150 each.
Website Hosting for simple static sites is just £45 a year, but is included in the set up cost of the site for the first year. Of course, if you have an existing hosting package elsewhere there is no obligation to move the hosting of your site.
Some clients choose to pay a small regular monthly fee for updates, maintenance and back-ups, but this is purely on an opt-in basis.
Content managed websites
A content managed website is one which you can update yourself using an admin system. This includes custom made systems as well as off-the-shelf platforms like Joomla and Wordpress.
Our content managed websites start from just £799 which includes:
- The first year's web hosting,
- Graphic Design
- Website construction to the current web and accessibility standards.
- Mobile and Tablet Frienly Versions
- Our bespoke admin system which provides access to update all of the pages on your website, as well as adding, editing or removing users.
- Simple effects including drop down menus, image rollovers and other simple animation effects (but not Flash)
- An email contact form.
- Google Analytics setup.
- Submission of sitemap(s) to Google Webmaster Tools.
Additional features cost between £100 - £200 each and include: reactive mobile versions, photo galleries, events, news, podcasts, shopping carts, products, categories, audio downloads, blogs, video downloads, email and member only sections. Website Hosting for content managed sites is just £92 a year, but is included in the set up cost of the site for the first year. If you have, or intend to set up, web hosting elsewhere then your package will usually need to include: a MySQL database, PHP and CGI scripting in order to run the content management system.
There are no monthly fees, but some clients opt to pay a regular montly amount for our updates and back-up service.
Domain Names
The registration of a domain name of your choice is included in the cost of our basic web design packages, up to the value of £13.50.
- .CO.UK and .ORG.UK Domain names usually cost £17 for 2 years,
- .COM, .ORG and .NET domains costing £13.50 a year.
- .INFO, .BIZ and .TV domains cost considerably more (approx £20 - £40 a year).
- A whole host of other domain name variants are now available including .cymru, .wales, .london etc.
