These days it's not good enough to just have a website. These days sites need to meet certain standards like:
- W3C XHTML Compliance - The World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) are responsible for setting standards for the internet. Compliance means that all browsers should display the site in the same way.
- W3C CSS Compliance - In the same way, by complying to the style sheet standards, the site will be compatible with as many browsers as possible and aids with accessibility.
- Accessibility Standards - In the UK, all websites need to be accessible by everyone, including the visually impaired. By following certain simple guidelines a site can be made open to everyone.
- Browser / Platform Compatibility - Unfortunately different browsers (Internet Explorer, Firefox, Safari, etc...) display web pages slightly differently. So just because a site looks fine on one computer, doesn't mean it will look that way to everyone.
We carry out all of these checks as standard on every site. We also optimise sites so that they appear in the search engines, though we cannot guarantee a good ranking based on these factors alone.
To find out more about how we can carry out these checks on an existing site please e-mail us.
