Articles: A bad website is worse than no website

According to a recent study of 1800 consumers carried out by one of the leading website hosting companies (1&1) bad quality websites are actually damaging to business for small businesses.

A staggering, 37% of customers, would immediately leave a website, and a further 9% would spend less.

Over 33% of customers in the survey thought that the websites they were using were either unimpressive or tired and regularly found broken links due to typing errors.

It is also reported that two thirds of companies struggle to keep their websites looking attractive and finding enough new content. In fact, 30% of the website owners questioned were actually reluctant or embarrassed to show their website to their customers.

"It is essential that every company website inspires confidence. Businesses that invest carefully in their web experience will see higher levels of customer spend, retention and referral", comments Oliver Mauss, 1&1 Internet CEO.

We would certainly agree with their conclusions, since keeping a website up to date can be very difficult, especially on a tight budget.
