Church Portfolio

Here are some examples of church websites Doive Web Design (aka Dave Burton) have built, some recent, some older. As you might expect, when we are busy we don't have time to update our portfolio of work, so our most recent website examples may not be here yet. However, you may find links to websites we have created recently on our Facebook or Google+ pages.

Freely Given

Back in the Autumn of 2021, Peter Wrigley approached us with an idea for a personal website where he could share greetings cards, short stories, poems, details of walks and more generally is faith, or as he describes it 'a total mish-mash of whole life'.

Coming from a design background, Peter already had a good idea as to what he wanted, but had no real interest in how websites worked. So we complemented each other quite nicely and his initial ideas were quite easy to translate into a working website.

The website itself uses the latest version of our bespoke content management system (or CMS) which means that we were able to completely customise the options available to him. This allows him to add his varied content to the website, whilst giving him an easy to use admin system to add, edit or upload new content.

The new website launched in April 2022.

St Barnabas with Christs' Church, Dulwich

St Barnabas with Christs' Church in Dulwich are a large and diverse group of people at different stages in their Christian pilgrimage. They are an active church with an aim to help people to develop their faith in Jesus, learn together how to live with respect for creation, to love God, to love and serve others, to seek justice and to resist evil.

St Barnabas’ church building is new, rebuilt in 1996, after the fire in 1992 which destroyed the original Victorian building. Their worship is enhanced by their large and brilliant choir directed by Music Director Christopher Woodward.

The new church website, though not specifically designed by Doive Designs, was converted from a Joomla website to a Wordpress one in the Autumn of 2020, and relaunched in December 2020. The conversion allows the team greater access to amend content using Wordpress' and an array of easy to use plugins.

Hope Church, Cadoxton

Hope Church, Cadoxton (formerly Cadoxton Methodist Church) are a lively and active church based in Cadoxton, near Barry in the Vale of Glamorgan. They have members of all ages from babies to people in their 90s. Running regular meetings for such a diverse group of people means that they are a really busy church, so their site needed to reflect that. They are a modern congregation and as such they wanted a modern looking site, a site which they needed to be able to access themselves. So the site is based upon our bespoke content management system and went live on 1st July 2011.

Update: We originally built the website back in 2011, redeveloped the website in 2015 to make it mobile friendly and then again in January 2020 when the church formerly changed their name making the site fully mobile friendly and giving it a new look. www.cadoxton.org.uk

St Peter's Church, Fremington

In early 2017, we launched the new website for St Peter's Church in Fremington, North Devon. The new website which is based on our in-house bespoke content management system includes a members area, photo gallery, blogging system and calendar system. The calendar allows admin to add repeating events, including options allowing for term time only meetings. As is now standard with all our website packages, the website is fully responsive making it compatible with all current browsers and devices. www.fremingtonstpeters.org.uk

Thornhill Baptist, Southampton

Thornhill Baptist Church is a community of ordinary people based in the heart of the Thornhill and Harefield areas of Southampton. Everyone is welcome: the old and the young; the got-it-together and the battered and bruised by life; the convinced Christian and the unsure explorer.

We were approached by the leadership team at Thornhill Baptist in Southampton in 2016 who were at the time looking for a new website. They opted to go with the incredibly popular Wordpress CMS system for which we created a bespoke template and customised the plugins to meet their requirements. The result is the website you see before you: www.thornhillbc.org.uk

Llanishen Evangelical Church

Llanishen Evangelical Church are a lively community church in North Cardiff. They are a small church but run a large number of regular activities for people young or old. The website uses a customised version of our content management system which allows the church to update the site themselves. It includes our news and events systems. The events system means that once an event has passed it is automatically removed from the site. The site went live in July 2010. Update: The website was redesigned and upgraded to a newer version of our CMS in 2015. www.llec.org.uk

The churches together represent a variety of styles of worship from traditional to modern and provide activities to members of their local communities of all ages. Their website, launched in May 2011, is aimed at improving communication between the churches and to the communities which they serve by providing service times, news, events and even photos from past events.
