Articles: A Very Good Year
Date Added: 18/12/2015 @ 11:17am
2015 has been a very busy year for Doive Designs and we must admit that keeping our own website up to date has been a real challenge.
So as the year draws to a close, we think that it is long overdue that we do a quick round up on what we've been up to.
1. Mobile Responsive Websites
Above and beyond anything else that we've been working on this year have been updates to various websites we manage to make them mobile and tablet friendly, something which Google now consider strongly when deciding the ranking of your website.
We now consider this a pre-requisite on all new builds (including Find Car Washes and Give To Charity Today) as more and more website traffic ditches the laptop and goes mobile.
However, it's not just the new builds that have gone mobile friendly this year, we have been able to adapt existing sites like Magnetic Bracelets Wales and Direct Assembly Solutions (Exeter) so that they are mobile friendly.
2. Appy to Help
At the start of 2015 we were proud to annouce our first mobile phone app: "Find Car Washes". This was a very basic app linked very closely to the Find Car Washes website.
This was a new development and certainly had some teething problems especially for the iPhone version which took considerably longer to get onto iTunes, but it is now available on the three main app stores.
We are looking at developing further apps in the future, so please contact us for more information.
3. CMS 2.0
We've also undertaken a massive update to our in house CMS system which we're gradually rolling out to our existing customers. It's taken a lot of work but we're now starting to move some of our existing websites onto the new system which is far easier to update and is more streamlined than previous versions. It also makes the system compatible with a forthcoming update to PHP.
Websites now using this system include (but certainly aren't limited to) Gweini, whose website we completely redesigned this year and Cadoxton Methodist Church. It is also being used on the forthcoming new British Thematic Society website and Creative Ministries International website.
4. New contacts
As well as working on new websites and rebuilds we also work alongside several other companies on a regular basis, providing updates, hosting and fixes periodically throughout the year. We've had a number of new contacts over the past year including the Mid Devon Network, Two Bald Blokes and Seldons Solicitors in Exeter.
Christmas Opening
As usual we will be closed during the festive season for a much needed break. We will be officially closed from Wednesday 23rd December until January 4th 2016.
During this time, if we host your website and you experience any issues, give Dave a call on 07817851856 and we'll do what we can to resolve the issue.
Likewise, for customers that have a regular monthly agreement with ourselves, if you have any urgent issues do get in contact. Non urgent issues will be resolved as soon as we return after Christmas.
Finally then, all that is left to say is to thank you all for your support over the year and to wish you a Merry Christmas!
